Conference recommendation from Health of Ministers Report:

Jean Telford, our Circuit and Society Steward, reported to the Church Council the recommendations of the Conference Report on health of ministers. This included a recommendation that minsters have two nominated free days each week. The recommendation brought to the Church Council for the present BMC minister was that Monday be the nominated day off plus two other ‘sessions’ in the week to be decided by the minister himself to best suit the church programme and his own diary. A session was defined as working either a morning, an afternoon or an evening. It was recognised that pastoral emergencies or other urgent events may make this particular arrangement impractical. If he was unable to take the full time off in any week, the minister was given permission to carry forward free time on a ‘time off in lieu’ basis. This agreement is particular to Colin while he remains the minister at BMC. (For instance, the agreement at Mountpottinger for Emily is slightly different). A next minister at BMC will require a new arrangement to best suit the needs of the church and those of the minister and their family. The current agreement with Colin will be reviewed next year.

Circuit and Congregational Meeting Feb 2006

Bloomfield & Mountpottinger Methodist Churches recently came together for a brainstorming session on how each church perceived its role in the community, and how it might work to better serve its members and reach out to others in the area. The day provided an opportunity to discuss many different aspects of church life and how each church felt it was performing in those areas, as well as highlighting the weaker areas which required reassessment on how best to improve.

The outcome of the day's discussions is available to download in either PDF format HERE or Word format HERE.
